A report of a Lesser Black-backed Gull gave Dian and I a reason to travel to Penticton in October. It took about 6 hours and an overnight stay but we found it on the shores of Okanagan Lake. This was the first time we have ever seen one of these Eastern rarities.

While looking for the LB Gull we found this dainty Bonaparte's Gull. This is a young one. |

A trip to Reifel produced some Sandhill Crane pictures. |

A few Northern Pintails were also at Reifel. I thought I had a pretty good picture here but now see it hasn't developed its "pintail" yet. |

It was powdered and put in milk to produce an insecticide to kill flys. The flys drank the tainted milk. |

My local pond had a pair of Otter. It has been a while since the last time they visited. |

Tropical Kingbirds are rare in this area. This one was also in Ladner. |

I posted this Anna's Hummingbird in the blog last month. Here is a good chance to see how his gorget has grown out in 1 month. I can see a couple of new feathers. |
